One of the activities that we managed to fit in a couple of times in the last few days was ice skating. Until next week when a second sheet opens, Bozeman has only had one sheet of indoor ice and it is shared by ice hockey, figure skaters, lessons and public skaters. The kids had only been skating once before in Taupo, on the mini rink that they put up outside last summer.
They both really enjoyed it, and made heaps of progress; from using the zimmer frame devices to skating on their own, albeit slowly and wobbly. Matthew and I have skated before (plus grew up in the era of roller skates and roller blades) so it didn't take us too long to find our balance and go forwards (no reverse or tricks though). I remember going ice skating in Perth, and always having to take warm layers to put on in the rink. But here, both times we went skating it was much warmer inside the pavillion that it was outside!

So who is the expert? Don't think the ice rink is still operating in Perth. Had some good times there.
